University Preparation Programs in Australia: International Student Perspectives

Existing studies have revealed that prior educational experience plays an important role in student learning, and many international students are encountering challenges while undertaking academic at Anglophone universities. However, few examined how the pre-university preparation assists them transitioning to university. This study explores, through perceptions of students, effectiveness different university pathways a cohort leading Australian Using mixed-method research design, questionnaire focus group interviews were conducted collect data about overseas pathway program they undertook. The results show who undertook programs had perspectives extent which felt prepared for terms aspects their education, such as subject content knowledge English language proficiency. Based on students’ perceptions, findings this exploratory contribute new insights help improve education practices universities deeper understanding diverse receive. Overall, article highlights heterogeneous nature preparedness transition, offers some practical implications educators, administrators, curriculum designers.
